The Super Tuscans - 1999 Vintage

Scattered rainfall and above-average temperatures in the early spring of 1999 caused buds to break early in all varieties. These conditions made for excellent flowering and stabilized the growing cycle. Precipitation in the early summer followed by long sunny periods allowed all varieties to ripen fully. The excellent weather made for an above-average harvest of a quality that exceeded expectations. Nonetheless, some clusters had to be removed in order to encourage the development of greater concentration in the remaining grapes. This vineyard strategy, combined with sunny conditions in September, resulted in an excellent crop.
