Romanée-Conti

Alongside Lafite and Pétrus, La Romanée Conti is probably the best known and most prestigious name in the world of fine and rare wines. The tiny estate of just 1.8 hectares belongs to Aubert de Villaine and the Leroy family. Facing south, the vineyard overlooks Richebourg, another Grand Cru Classé. The soil has a slight concentration of fine clay, which lends La Romanée Conti a degree of structure and finesse not found in the wines of its neighbours. The soil's natural drainage provides perfect conditions for the vines to flourish. As with all the red Burgundian Grand Cru wines, Pinot Noir rules at La Romanée Conti.
