Château d'Yquem – Sauternes (Superior First Growth)

It is no accident that the world's most famous sweet white wine was born at Château d'Yquem. The estate's soil, which is warmer towards the top and more humid beneath because of a concentration of clay, is undeniably a factor in the excellent quality of the wines grown here. Yquem wines are a marriage of rich, syrupy Sémillon, which provides body and volume, and Sauvignon, with its aromas and finesse.
