Château Mouton-Rothschild was not officially classified a First Growth until 1973 after a request by Baron Philippe and tireless lobbying led to a revision of the 1855 classification. The château's exceptional terroir comprises 82 hectares planted with Cabernet Sauvignon (77%), Merlot (12%), Cabernet Franc (9%) and Petit Verdot (2%). The wine is vinified in one of Médoc's few remaining oak tanks. Following a long period of ageing in new oak barrels, only the very best vats from each harvest are chosen to bear the Mouton label.

The palate is harmonious with an exquisite touch of freshness and subtle, delicate tannins. The 1995 Mouton is a sumptuous wine with an impeccable finish.
