Château Lafite-Rothschild – Pauillac

Located in Pauillac, Château Lafite-Rothschild originally belonged to Jacques de Ségur (1670), who also owned Latour and Calon Ségur. The Rothschild family acquired the château in 1868 and remains the exclusive owner to this day. The château cultivates nearly ninety hectares of vineyards planted primarily with Cabernet Sauvignon (70%). The wine is vinified in wooden vats and aged in new oak barrels for between eighteen and twenty months.

2000 Vintage

Elegant and highly complex, this wine deserves its perfect rating. Still in its impetuous youth, it has an astonishingly precise and clean nose that evokes small black berries, cedar and graphite against a slightly iodized background. A pleasant freshness and the melted tannins will guarantee long life to this wine, which should be among the very best in a decade or more.
