Chambertin Clos-de-Bèze

The origins of this prestigious Grand Cru from the town of Gevrey-Chambertin go all the way back to the year 630 when the Duke of Burgundy granted the land to the Abbey of Bèze. The current boundaries of the Cru, however, were not established until the sixteenth century. The terroir's 15.4 hectares of vineyards lie at the top of a hillside bordered on one side by Chambertin and on the other by the Grand Cru of Mazis-Chambertin. Although often associated with its close cousin Chambertin, Chambertin-Clos de Bèze is a more distinguished and complex wine.
