Burgundy's Elite Grand Cru Wines - 1985 Vintage

It is said that 1985 finished better than it began. Freezing in January caused damage that was extensive in certain parts of the region. The months of July and August, however, saw the kind of sunny and dry weather grapes need to ripen properly. The dry weather persisted until the end of October, allowing for a healthy harvest at the usual time. The 1985 vintage is considered one of the best of its decade. The reds are remarkable for their concentration and sensational harmony. In the mouth, they are fleshy, round and dense. Classic in style, the whites of this vintage are ethereal and complex with an evenly smooth texture and perfectly balanced acidity.
